my house, the bat cave

i hate bats alot. even more then i hate lima beans. they are shifty little flying bastards that i don't trust.

imagine my horror when we came home from dinner with friends and margarita's to find an f-ing bat in our house. wtf? our house is not old, at all, so how a bat got in there i'm not sure. apparently they fly in through fireplace's, heating cooling vents and God knows where else. while my husband chased it around w/ a fishing net i stood in the kitchen under bright lights and screamed. constantly. for 10 minutes. i was absolutely no help at all. thank God for my friend darnell who schooled me on the art of in home bat removal. evidently all you have to do is turn out the lights and open a door and the skeezy bastard will just fly out, which indeed worked. otherwise my poor husband would still be chasing that damn bat because we have ridiculously high ceilings.

sleeping didn't go so well. i was afraid my sheets and pillows were all batted up. i could just picture it rolling around on my bed and grossing it up. i also had to sleep with my neck and wrists completely covered in case there was another one in the house somewhere and i have an irrational fear of things biting my neck and wrists.

as for my blogging absence, i needed a break. with ICLW last month i got completely drunk on blogging and ended up with a horrible blogging hangover.

EW! Bats are yucky, and I would have done the same as you. No, actually, I probably would have locked my self in the bathroom with my cell phone while DH dealt with the bat. Did you wash your sheets yet?

Glad to see you back, I missed your posts!

Holy hell. That is disgusting. I probably would've hidden in the car until it was all over and let Mark deal with the dirty work.

*new reader* Bats freak me out, too. I had one in my room once and everyone thought I was crazy. "There isn't a bat in your room, dumbass" I was right and that thing was promptly removed from my room. I totally feel your pain. Glad ya got that skeezy bastard out of there! Hope you get some sleep tonight!

Oh gross !
We had a bat in the kitchen once - at my fatherin law's farm - in the daytime and it took ages to get rid of the darn thing. Hope you get some sleep tonight.

Oh, that would be awful! I do the same stand-there-and-freak-out-thing while my husband kills our spiders. I can't stand them. I hope your bats stay far, far away from now on.

When I was about 10 we got a bat in our house in the middle of the night. I'll never forget waking up to my dad and stepmom running after it, continually trying to throw a towel over it and continually failing. Honestly, I don't know how they ever got the thing out!

Hope you sleep better tonight!

Yuck! I couldn't agree more about hating bats. I have a friend who has a bat hangout ro something in her backyard to get rid of insects. I never go over there to play at night!! That's for sure.

Eck! That's wild. I'll definitely know what to do now though if a bat ever gets caught in the house :)

Bats are pretty scary. Haven't had one in our house, but once when I was camping I had a bunch fly right over my head and land in the tree above me. I could literally feel the air from their wings moving the hair on my head. Yuck!

I didn't know that about how to get them out of the house. Definitely good to know.
